Hamilton Academical FC manager, John Rankin, has picked up his first trophy of the new season after being named the Scottish League One Glen’s Manager of the Month for August 2023.

The Accies put together an 100% start to the league season during August, with victories over Cove Rangers, Kelty Hearts, Edinburgh City and Montrose to move two points clear of Falkirk at the top of the table.

Former Hibernian, Dundee United and Ross County player Rankin has also guided his side to four clean sheets in their impressive start to the new campaign.

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said:

“It has been a terrific start to the new season for Hamilton, especially after the disappointment of the way last season ended with their relegation from The Championship.

“John and his coaching staff have worked hard over the summer to put together a team capable of bouncing straight back to the second tier and these early season results highlight their position as one of the favourites for the League One title.

“My congratulations go to John and everyone at Hamilton on winning the first Scottish League One Glen’s Manager of the Month award of the season.”

Hamilton Academical FC manager, John Rankin, said:

"It is obviously very nice to receive the Glen's Vodka SPFL league 1 Manager of the Month award, but I fully believe the players are at the forefront of this. They have endeavoured to do everything that has been asked of them and have started the season reasonably well. We have to continue to work hard as a staff and playing squad to strive to be better.

“Thank you to all the supporters, staff and Directors for their support to myself and the team."
