Queen’s Park FC Head Coach, Robin Veldman, has picked up his first award in Scottish football by being named the Scottish Championship Glen’s Manager of the Month for August 2023.

Veldman’s side picked up nine points from a possible twelve during the month, with two wins over Arbroath, and an opening day victory at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, before the weekend defeat at Partick Thistle.

The 37-year-old Dutchman has a three-year contract with Scotland’s oldest club and his coaching experience includes spells at SC Heerenveen, AFC Ajax and RSC Anderlecht.

Queens Park currently hold a two-point lead over Dundee United at the top of The Championship and travel to Raith Rovers at the weekend.

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said:

“After the club came so close to what would have been a stunning promotion last term, Robin and his coaching staff have put a huge amount of work into preparing the side for what is clearly going to be another really competitive Championship season and they must be delighted with this impressive start.

“Our voting panel were impressed by the way Robin has adjusted quickly to the Scottish scene and they felt his side’s performances just edged those of Dundee United at the top of the table.

“My congratulations to Robin, his coaching staff and all involved with Queen’s Park on picking up the first Scottish Championship Glen’s Manager of the Month award of the 2023/24 season.”

Robin Veldman, Head Coach, Queen’s Park FC, said:

“I have enjoyed my first few weeks in Scottish football, however, there is more to come from Queen’s Park on the pitch.  We are a new side and learning all the time from each other.

“I would like to thank all the coaches and backroom staff for their assistance since I joined and also thank the players for the work that they have put in.”
