The Spartans FC manager, Douglas Samuel, has been named the Scottish League Two Glen’s Manager of the Month for October 2023 – his second award of the season.

Samuel’s side picked up six points from their two league matches played during the month, with victories over Stranraer and Dumbarton to move to within two points of leaders Peterhead at the top of the table.

The Spartans have won five, drawn five and lost one of their 11 league matches played so far in their first season in the SPFL. Douglas Samuel also picked up the Glen’s award in August.

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said:

“The Spartans success story continues at pace, and there is no doubt Douglas Samuel and his coaching staff have moulded together a squad set to make a significant impression on the division in their first season in the league.

“Cup matches and the weather curtailed the month’s fixture list but that made it all the more important to pick up points when the games were played, and the victory over promotion rivals Dumbarton was a key influence in our judging panel’s thoughts this month.

“My congratulations go to Douglas, his coaching staff and all involved at Spartans, on being named the Scottish League Two Glen’s Manager of the Month for October to follow up his August success.”

The Spartans FC Manager, Douglas Samuel, said:

“I’m delighted to receive the award on behalf of everyone in the Spartans home dressing - all the staff and players.

“The players have adjusted well to life in League 2 so far and are enjoying the challenge each and every game brings.”
